The Gaga Teacher Training Program, under the management of Idan Porges and the artistic directorship of Doron Raz and Aya Israeli, began its inaugural school year in October! The program, which continues through the end of August 2012, attracted a competitive pool of applicants from around the world. Last month, 30 dancers descended on Tel Aviv from Belgium, Canada, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Paraguay, Poland, Portugal, Russia, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States, and around Israel.
The dancers are studying 5 days a week, taking classes in Gaga, repertory, and methodics with Ohad Naharin and current and former dancers with Batsheva Dance Company and the Batsheva Ensemble. Classes are currently held at the company’s studios in the Suzanne Dellal Centre, and the program will ultimately move to a studio in Bat Yam that is undergoing renovation. The dancers will also be joining some Gaga/people and Gaga/dancers classes in Tel Aviv. Please give them a warm welcome!
